My 2011 Sienna with 180K miles AC quit recently. Was working fine then one day the AC indicator light flashing and no AC. My past experience tell me to check the AC magnetic clutch relay first since my old CRV I had to replace it twice. To my surprise, the owner's manual did not mention anything about the relay.. This may or may not apply. My 4 cyl Camry had the blinking AC light. The AC compressor has a tach in it generating a signal. It compares that signal to the engine rpm. If they disagree, the car thinks the compressor is frozen and opens the AC clutch. When they rebuild the compressor, they do not fix the tach.
If you have a Toyota AC light flashing condition, the problem may not be as bad as you think. Toyota AC compressor clutches use a lock sensor circuit to make sure the clutch is fully locked-up to the compressor when the AC is on. The lock sensor generates an AC voltage as the clutch turns and sends that signal to either an A/C amplifier or ECM.. I am having issues with my ac in my 2011 Toyota sienna. The air in the back of the van started going out. Now today the air in front stopped blowing cool air and the ac light blinks when turned on. The temp gauge looks normal. Is this an ac issue or water pump/ serpentine belt issue. Is this.
