Axle code of 39 from the door jam leads me to believe 3.55 gears, but doesn't specify locking or not. I'm looking to stick in a limited slip (probaby truetrac) but wanna know what exactly I've got in there.. Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) - axel code 39 - on the sticker on my passanger door the axel number was 39 just wondering if anyone could tell me what gears i have?
Axle tags are often illegible when they are this old. If legible, I understand there will be a letter "L" in the middle of the ratio, as in" 3 L 55". What i an looking for is the door VIN plate codes. I saw codes "39" and "F" yesterday. There was no number following the "F" which I though odd. OldMisterBill, thanks for that observation..
