In 1978, Old Town touted the durability of its 17-foot Tripper canoe by tossing one from the roof of its Maine factory. Since then, Royalex has been used in Old Town canoes, which are still made from wood, canvas, fiberglass, thermoformed Royalex, and rotational molded linear low density PE.. My Dad bought this canoe ( serial XTC37820N81I or XTC37820N81L… no sure on the last character, it's a "L" or "i" ) back in the 1980's. Maybe a Discovery. 17 feet and he bought used in the mid-90s. It sure looks to be in better shape than that Tripper. Checking them both out this weekend.
