Samsung MU8500 Review (UN55MU8500, UN65MU8500)

The curved MU8500 series is available in two screen sizes: • 55-inch (Samsung UN55MU8500), ~$1,000 on Amazon • 65-inch (Samsung UN65MU8500), ~$1,500 on Amazon. Other than more limited availability and curved screens, the MU8500 TVs are otherwise identical to the MU8000 series.. The "360" curved design of the MU8500 is very attractive. Samsung has been more thoughtful than most about the way the back of the TV looks (textured), and includes a nifty clutter free cable routing solution in a stand leg. The silver color stand and frame I like a lot - beautiful look. The MU8500 is only 3.9" in depth even with the curve.

The Samsung MU8000 is slightly better than the Samsung MU8500. The Samsung MU8000 has a faster response time that leaves a slightly shorter image trail on fast action scenes, and it's marginally better for watching movies due to the better contrast. On the other hand, the Samsung MU8500 is somewhat better for use as a PC monitor due to its curved nature that results in better viewing angles to.. The Samsung MU8500 is a better TV than the Samsung MU6500. The Samsung MU8500 is better for watching movies as it has local dimming to improve blacks, much better motion handling with excellent 24p judder removal and excellent motion interpolation. The Samsung MU8500 also has marginally better SDR peak brightness so you can comfortably watch.
