Re: 4.3 mercruiser water in oil i pulled about 5 quarts of water out of the pan with my suction machine. since the pump is in the outdrive and the water runs through the exhaust manifolds i just wanted to make sure there wasnt something different that im missing. it wouldnt run earlier due to the excessive amount of crankcase pressure that was allowing some water to make it past the ring seals.. Motor Serial #D810408, 4.3LX 4 barrel carb. The boat came out of storage this week after it sat for 2 years without any use. I went to drain the oil from the oil bolt on the pan and a good chunk of water came out and then oil. I went ahead and then removed the spark plugs, and they all looked similar (photo attached).
Hi Bruce! Water in the oil is a serious problem that can damage your engine if not addressed. There are a few possible causes of water in the oil of a 4.3 Mercruiser engine, including: A blown head gasket. This is the most common cause of water in the oil. When the head gasket fails, it allows coolant to leak into the oil passages.. Water in oil, 4.3 litre Mercruiser. I have a 2006 Maxum 1800 SR3 that I have owned since it was new. Every winter, I run the engine up to operating temperature and then fog the engine through the carb. After that is done, I pull the 5 plugs from the engine and drain the water out. I then reinstall the plugs, disconnect the four hoses at the top.
